Simple yet detailed
The AJ floor lamp is part of a collection of lamps designed in 1960 by Arne Jacobsen for the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen, the world's first design hotel. A series of lamps with a simple yet very unique design. He designed the total interior concept, from furniture to lighting, combining both soft rounded shapes and clean angular lines, an interior where every detail was coordinated.
For the AJ floor lamp, Arne Jacobsen managed to beautifully combine these 2 geometric shapes into an iconic and ingenious design that never gets dull. The lampshade starts angular at the top and turns into a rounder conical shape, the fine stem elegantly connecting it to the rounded base with opening in the middle, just where the light falls.
The AJ floor lamp is available in both neutral colours and rich and deep colours, ideal as an extra accent in your interior. The inside of the lampshade is always in white for a soft and pleasant light. The lampshade is also rotatable to use both as a reading lamp with direct light downwards or for ambient lighting when tilted towards a wall.
